About

Schmutzinberry is a comedic children’s web series for kids of all ages set in present day (yes, during the virus.) It tells the story of Rami Schmutzinberry, a creative dreamer and gym teacher.  Rami idolizes the 18th century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.  Every morning he dons a wig and tights. He stops using mechanical pencils and gets himself a feather. He even legally changes his name to “Wolfgang Amadeus Schmutzinberry.” The only problem is, although he now looks the part, Rami knows next to nothing about music.

Through the series, Rami and his friends (both human and puppet) will learn about emotions, community, and music. The kids and adults following  the series will gain a deep understanding of music, with its mathematical roots, emotional layers, and even kinetic connections.   Check out these webisodes created by Lincoln Center musicians and former Disney and Upright Citizens Brigade writers. Oh, and keep your eyes peeled for celebrities. You never know who Schmutzinberry’s friends may be…

Schmutzinberry the webseries was created and produced by Rami Vamos and Kevin Hylton. The series was based on a stage show Rami performed extensively at Lincoln Center and many schools and performance sites around the country over the past few years. They were about to pitch a 22 minute Schmutzinberry television series to studios when Covid hit their area of Westchester, NY. Rami and Kevin are both parents of young children and were working hard to home-school their kids. It became apparent that one way they could help now was to bring Schmutzinberry to you, the parents and children who are looking for content and ways to process this unimaginable new life.

So, they reached out to friends… and then friends of friends… and amazingly no one said “no” when asked to help. Everything is being done remotely, properly socially distanced, and no one is receiving a dime from this effort. So thank you to you the viewer for watching and thank you so much to all the production folks and celebrities who have given their time to create this project.
